In this episode, I chat with Dr. Christy Gardner about float tanks and float therapy. You might have heard about it or even tried it out, or maybe it’s a regular part of your self-care. For many, it’s a great way to relax or even escape from the over-stimulating nature of living in today’s world.

But you know me. There’s something deeper going on in that float tank and looking at it through the lens of depth psychology is a great way to explore what that deeper part of you might be trying to communicate through the experience.

Christy shares her story about how a childhood preoccupation with water and fears about the swimming pool drain led to exploring some hidden trauma related to her birth experience, how she was led to floating and eventually being called to study depth psychology and research the deeper aspects of the experience.

In addition to being a scholar, Dr. Gardner is a freelance copyeditor for the C. G. Jung Institute of Los Angeles journal: Psychological Perspectives, and a dissertation editor. Christy says she enjoy guiding students with their concept papers, proposals, dissertations, and other academic writing through the final manuscript.
